Weekend Getaways

I spent last weekend in San Francisco and I'm spending this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky. It's kind of nice to get out of Manhattan on weekends from time to time.

I *did* buy a wedding dress when I was in SF. No, I'm not going to post pictures and no I won't give you details. All I will say is that my dress is Monique Lhuillier, it's from the 2009 collection, so it won't even be seen in fashion shows or online until next year, *but* parts of the dress (ie. the skirt and the bodice) were featured prominently in a certain film I adore that came out semi recently :)

The post about the Scottish Play has been sitting up for a very long time and I feel the need to add something new, though I have no gripes about anything at the moment. On the contrary, I'm quite calm and relaxed here in the sunny spring weather in California.

Yes. It's true. I never work. I know it seems that way. It seems as though I always have a holiday of some kind. Which is mostly true. One of the (many) pleasures of teaching in a private institution. It's technically 'spring break'/easter so I decided to spend a week in San Francisco and Napa with my family.

Of course, other than eating too much I have nothing very interesting to write about. So until I am inspired by some sort of creative burst, go read my recent film reviews.

Been awhile since I posted. Not much to write about. Fall is always a busy time, with the beginning of the school year, classes starting, settling into a new routine, etc.

I had a very nice and restful time in San Francisco. I went to a wedding of two of my friends at The Saint Francis Hotel.

I also spent some time in the sunny Napa Valley. I had a delicious lunch of mussels and pommes frites at Thomas Keller's Bouchon in Yountville.

And I had some sushi with my cousins at Go Fish in St. Helena



It was a restful two weeks, which is exactly what I needed before returning to hectic Manhattan.

Back from the Bay

I'm back from an all too brief weekend in San Francisco. The weather was perfect, I got some necessary shopping done (for upcoming summer travels and some formal events), I saw 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' with Kathleen Turner and Bill Irwin (he won a Tony for playing the role of George), and ate at Asia de Cuba (I didn't order the tuna tartare because it has olives in it). I hate olives.
