Complete Relaxation

I'm still in California -- all over the place actually from San Francisco, to Napa, St. Helena, Rutherford, Yountville, Marin, Sausalito, Oakland, the East Bay, Vallejo and Palo Alto.

When I'm in Manhattan, and swept away by the chaos and excitement of living in such an energetic, enigmatic and culturally stimulating mecca, I forget just how much I love The Bay Area. It's peaceful, calm and relaxing, but most importantly, while it may not have the *history* of New York (San Francisco's history only dates back to the 1840s), it is the city that maps out *my* history. My life from birth to 18. The Haight Ashbury, Mission Street, Golden Gate Park, Baker Beach, Twin Peaks, West Portal, Glen Park, The Presidio, Fillmore Street, Pacific Heights -- all these places contain memories, moments, stories and feelings that have made me the person I am today. And to be able to share a piece with that with a person I love -- the person who is my future -- has been a really special experience.

California

The post about the Scottish Play has been sitting up for a very long time and I feel the need to add something new, though I have no gripes about anything at the moment. On the contrary, I'm quite calm and relaxed here in the sunny spring weather in California.

Yes. It's true. I never work. I know it seems that way. It seems as though I always have a holiday of some kind. Which is mostly true. One of the (many) pleasures of teaching in a private institution. It's technically 'spring break'/easter so I decided to spend a week in San Francisco and Napa with my family.

Of course, other than eating too much I have nothing very interesting to write about. So until I am inspired by some sort of creative burst, go read my recent film reviews.
